All business activities of AltaGas Utilities Inc. shall comply with government health and safety acts, regulations, codes, and AltaGas Utilities Inc. standards, rules and instructions.
AltaGas Utilities Inc. will demonstrate its commitment to occupational health and safety through the application of the following general principles, which form the foundation of its safety management system:
- AltaGas Utilities Inc. is committed to providing a safe work environment and believes that worker safety is absolutely critical to its success.
- All employees, contractors, visitors and members of the public have the right to be protected from hazards and risks associated with AltaGas Utilities Inc. work, and to experience an environment that is free from unmitigated hazards that may injure.
- Health and safety awareness will continuously be developed, communicated and promoted amongst employees, contractors, visitors and the public.
- All those who are present at an AltaGas Utilities Inc. work site or facility shall receive safety orientation, procedures, training and personal protective equipment to help safeguard them.
- AltaGas Utilities Inc. has an obligation to ensure that a worker is not assigned unsafe work and every worker has an obligation to refuse work that he or she believes to be unsafe.
- Safe working practices will be established and implemented, and supported throughout AltaGas Utilities Inc.
- Every safety-related incident that occurs on an AltaGas Utilities Inc. work site or facility, or that involves its employees or contractors, will be reported and investigated.
- AltaGas Utilities Inc. will provide competent health and safety resources to support its safety efforts.
- Safety performance at AltaGas Utilities Inc. will be measured and evaluated using key performance indicators.
- AltaGas Utilities Inc. will maintain a process to promote continuous improvement of its safety management system processes and results.
- Every individual at an AltaGas Utilities Inc. work site or facility has a personal responsibility for working safely and for helping others to remain safe.
